Romandy and Ticino are the two regions of Switzerland where the working language is French or Italian — which, for many candidates from Western and Southern Europe, means an easier start than in the German-speaking part of the country. The HUG in Geneva and the CHUV in Lausanne are among the largest hospitals in Switzerland — more than 26,000 staff between them. Their vacancies span nursing, medicine, rehabilitation, diagnostics and administration.

Vaud

CHUV — Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois One of Switzerland's five university hospitals, with its main campus in Lausanne. Hôpital Riviera-Chablais Switzerland's first intercantonal hospital — officially belonging to two cantons at once: Vaud and Valais. HUG — Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève The university hospital of the canton of Geneva, with a history going back to 1535. In 2026 it ranked among the top 20 in Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals. Hôpital du Valais — Spital Wallis The cantonal network of the bilingual canton of Valais, created in 2004 from the merger of ten institutions. Its French-speaking arm (Centre Hospitalier du Valais Romand) operates in Sion, Sierre, Martigny, Monthey and Saint-Maurice. The German-speaking arm (Spital Oberwallis) is based in Visp and Brig.
