Hirslanden The largest private hospital network in Switzerland — 16 clinics across 9 cantons, more than 10,800 staff and 1,769 beds. Swiss Medical Network The second-largest private hospital network in Switzerland — 19 hospitals and clinics plus around 80 medical centres across all three language regions, close to 5,000 staff and 1,633 beds. Pallas Kliniken A network of 17 ophthalmology and aesthetic-medicine clinics, founded in 1994 in Olten by a single doctor with a single operating room. Today it sees more than 200,000 patients a year and counts over 120 specialist physicians. Schulthess Klinik (Zurich) One of Europe's leading orthopaedic clinics, founded in 1883. Around 1,100 staff and some 12,000 procedures a year. St. Claraspital (Basel) A clinic founded in 1928 and run for decades by the Sisters of Mercy. Around 1,200 staff and 210 beds. Together with the Universitätsspital Basel it runs Clarunis — Universitäres Bauchzentrum Basel, one of Switzerland's leading centres for abdominal surgery. Bethesda Spital (Basel) A deaconess hospital founded in 1923, specialising in gynaecology, obstetrics and orthopaedics. Around 750 staff. In 2019 it opened the "Haus der Geburt", bringing a welcoming birth house and a maternity clinic together under one roof. Clinique de La Source (Lausanne) A private clinic founded by the La Source Foundation in 1891 — the same foundation that in 1859 created the world's first secular nursing school. 630 staff and 150 beds. Clinica Luganese Moncucco (Lugano) The first private clinic in Ticino, founded on 24 June 1900 by Catholic nuns.
